1410Q is a place for knowledge transfer. Please read about our vision for the space. You can also see our current events calendar. That page also has our policies for holding events at 1410Q.
We invite anyone who has knowledge to share to speak at our space. If we have invited you to speak, or if you’d like to be considered, please fill out the speaker bio form below.
Here’s what to expect, along with some tips:
-
1)We do not restrict topics. You can range as far and wide as you’d like. What we do ask is that you set a timeframe up-front and stick to it (don’t tell people you’ll be speaking for an hour and take 90 minutes) and that you provide us with as much of an idea ahead of time on what you’ll be covering as possible, so we can set people’s expectations accordingly. But be creative and take tangents. People are here to learn from you.
-
2)Give the audience tangible items of learning. Ideally we want people to leave with a feeling of having learned something concrete. Great examples developer user groups, or a Photoshop class, or a speaker talking about the “20 mistakes” s/he wouldn’t make in hindsight.
-
3)Don’t advertise. We’re interested in you and what you’ve learned. Please try to eliminate selling or marketing pitches from your talk. It’ll make the audience much more receptive to what you have to say.
-
4)Understand Creative Commons licensing: Our events are streamed live and also saved for playback later under the Creative Commons license. By speaking at 1410Q, you’re giving authorization for your content to be shared under this license.
